Hunger?

Diving into the introspection of hunger cues.

Hunger and craving nods are as individual as the foods that satisfy them.

Let me share a strategy that has been eye-opening for my clients, in determining the ‘what, why, and how to ebb’ what appears as a powerless desire for food.

If you can embrace the ‘Food Diary’, beside each entry note down what you were doing, attempting to do, your thoughts at the time. Then begin a list of what triggered you to eat. You will start to see common trends.

Was it a commercial, feeling tired, feeling bored, being offered food from a friend, feeling stressed, avoiding a unfavourable task, post an argument or just being near your refrigerator or pantry?

Now, make a list of what you were actually hungry for. Were you hungry for food?

Make a list of all the possible things your mind, heart, and body may have been craving that wasn’t food. Now you have a personalised retrospective awareness, which is sensational, but you cannot change your past decisions, So I’ll invite you in to your power, where you engage in the potent opportunity of choosing!

When the thirst for eating hits, check-in before you indulge. Ask the same question of yourself - “What is my heart, mind, and body longing?” I’m often wanting to just sit and breath, I want space, or spend time on the grass or sand, or to move through a yoga asana.

Give yourself the things that nourish you as often as possible. Suspend in these beautiful sensations, relish in them! They make life fantastic!! Look for even small moments when you feel full and let yourself take in that feeling of satisfaction.

Without realising it, many of us are starving for self-love. We have become overly self-deprecating. Judging ourselves on the fullness of our daily plates. Is this metaphor migrating into our actual plates? Are we trying to fill those to the maximum capacity with the habitual competition? How much can we achieve and cram into every twenty-four hours?

Notice when you’re being hard on yourself, and then try to acknowledge how amazing you actually are and how awe-inspiring you will be if you allow yourself what you truly crave for insightful bites of your day.

Join me in the intelligence of what we are choosing for our body’s, and what we are doing to our minds because we only get the ‘one’ 🍃

My contribution is a union of nutrition, mindfulness, meditation, breathwork & movement intertwined with behaviour change and how it impacts a life worth living.

As a health and fitness professional, I want to shift the paradigm toward one of self-love and self-care instead of an aesthetic insecurity-based industry. Let’s move away from the trail of being overweight, body shape dissatisfaction, the daily dose of pharmaceutical and social drugs, persistent envy, unhappiness, anxiety, depression, and a life full of pressure to keep up, skip steps, and rush.

Living without awareness and intention creates pressures that we are not doing, we are not moving fast enough, as bosses, workers, weekend warriors, friends, lovers, parents, siblings, or grandparents. We have to be able and willing to step outside the pull of unhealthy and unhealthful cultural norms and make the critical space to do our meaningful thinking.

The first thing I need people to take in is if they are going to work with me or read my work because for me this re-frames the core of moving through all obstacles we have around stress, rush, health, weight, etc … The very blantant truth is that living under the guise of society’s expectations - is not living.

We have been fed a narrative that stepping outside or away from norms is the wrong way to exist and this narrative furthers unhappiness, unhealthiness, pressure, and a life that is too fast to enjoy.

Wherever we are, this is life—it’s happening right now, and I’ve decided that I am not going to rush through it and I invite you to join me today …
