How Meditation Helped Me Heal: A Powerful Reset for Women Ready to Reclaim Calm, Clarity & Choice

A Quiet Practice That Became a Lifeline

Meditation reset my life in such a powerful way.
It started as a quiet escape from anxiety and painful thoughts — a place to retreat when everything felt overwhelming. But over time, it became something deeper. A joy. A daily ritual. A key to understanding what I am truly capable of.

For many women, stress is so embedded in the day-to-day that they don’t even realise how much it’s affecting their energy, digestion, sleep, and sense of self. I know this because I’ve lived it — and I now teach women how to release this pressure at the root.

From Reaction to Response: Why Meditation Works

Through meditation, I’ve learned to distance myself from thought — not to suppress or ignore it, but to observe it with gentleness. To let experiences be what they are, without rushing to fix, label, or judge them.

And in this light, meditation isn’t something you “do.”
It’s something you cease to do
You cease to grasp, overthink, or push.
You stop buying into every thought that arises, and instead adopt a looking-in approach: calm, curious, non-reactive.

Even if just for a moment, we’re no longer dragged by habit.
And in that pause, something beautiful opens: choice.

The Science-Backed Benefits (and What I’ve Witnessed Personally)

When practiced consistently, meditation can help:

  • Ease anxiety and emotional reactivity

  • Improve gut-brain communication (yes, really!)

  • Soothe hormone-related mood swings and fatigue

  • Create space for healthier food and movement choices

  • Reduce the cortisol-driven loop of stress and poor sleep

And most importantly?
It reconnects you to your inner knowing — the voice beneath the noise.

If You're Tired But Wired... Start Here

You don’t need an hour a day.
You don’t need a perfect setup, app, or fancy breathing technique.
You just need a quiet 3-minute pause and your breath.

Start with this:
Sit.
Breathe in slowly for 4.
Hold for 4.
Exhale for 6.
Repeat 3–5 times.
Then just watch what arises, without chasing it.

💬 “I can’t believe how much tension I’ve been carrying.”
This is what most women say after their first pause.

Why I Begin My Coaching with This Work

In my holistic coaching, we always start here.
Because if your nervous system is in survival mode, no diet or training plan will stick.
Your mindset isn’t just the foundation — it’s the soil everything else grows from.

Leanne de Groot

My contribution is a union of nutrition, mindfulness, meditation, breathwork & movement intertwined with behaviour change and how it impacts a life worth living.

As a health and fitness professional, I want to shift the paradigm toward one of self-love and self-care instead of an aesthetic insecurity-based industry. Let’s move away from the trail of being overweight, body shape dissatisfaction, the daily dose of pharmaceutical and social drugs, persistent envy, unhappiness, anxiety, depression, and a life full of pressure to keep up, skip steps, and rush.

Living without awareness and intention creates pressures that we are not doing, we are not moving fast enough, as bosses, workers, weekend warriors, friends, lovers, parents, siblings, or grandparents. We have to be able and willing to step outside the pull of unhealthy and unhealthful cultural norms and make the critical space to do our meaningful thinking.

The first thing I need people to take in is if they are going to work with me or read my work because for me this re-frames the core of moving through all obstacles we have around stress, rush, health, weight, etc … The very blantant truth is that living under the guise of society’s expectations - is not living.

We have been fed a narrative that stepping outside or away from norms is the wrong way to exist and this narrative furthers unhappiness, unhealthiness, pressure, and a life that is too fast to enjoy.

Wherever we are, this is life—it’s happening right now, and I’ve decided that I am not going to rush through it and I invite you to join me today …
